Pearl Island

Pearl Island

I went on a Royal Caribbean cruise where one of our stops was in Nassau, Bahamas.

We decided to do an excursion and booked (through the ship) a 6 hour trip out to Pearl Island. It was $80 or $100 if you wanted to add on a 30 minute guided snorkeling tour. We wanted to snorkel so we splurged and the day was ah-mazing!

To start, the ferry ride over was about 45 minutes (included in the price) and our tour guide pointed out the owners of all the insane mansions that lined the bay. Donald Trump, Oprah (she had 2 – one for her and one for her guests), Bill Gates (he had 7! 7!!), Shakira, etc. etc…. When we got to the island, you were free to do anything you wanted. The whole island was at your disposal. They have a beach area with anything you could think of to keep you entertained… there was a giant trampoline in the water for you to jump off of and dive into the water, there was a floating mat that I swear could fit like 10 people, there were kayaks, glass bottom boats, paddle boards, cabanas, 2 bars and lots of lounge chairs.

Everything was accessible to us and everything was included so you could help yourself. They also provided lunch which was a yummy fish fry, chicken, coleslaw and dirty rice. I was so mad at myself for forgetting to pack my underwater camera because the snorkel adventure was great. They fed the fish so there were swarms of beautifully colored tropical fish all around us. Blue, yellow, green, starfish, sea urchins… it was everything we hoped for!
